The Austrian delegation from the Assembly of Lower Austria visited the Association of Kosovo Municipalities today to assess the possibilities of cooperation between the local government in Kosovo and the local government in Austria.
The Austrian delegation consisting of Mr. Karl Wilfing, Speaker of the Assembly of Lower Austria (Niederösterreichischen Landtages), Mr. Christoph Weidinger, Austrian Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Karl Moser, First Vice-President of the Assembly of Lower Austria, Mr. Rene Pfister , Deputy of the Assembly of Lower Austria, Mr. Dieter Dorner, Deputy of the Assembly of Lower Austria, Mr. Christoph Fuchs, Communication Officer and Mr. Martin Schaller, Austrian Deputy Ambassador in Kosovo were received by the AKM delegation chaired by Mr. Sazan Ibrahimi – Executive Director of AKM.
In this meeting, Mr. Ibrahimi informed the guests from Austria about the work and engagement that the Association of Kosovo Municipalities has in representing the interests of the Municipalities and for lobbying and advocacy for local government in Kosovo.
Director Ibrahimi also informed the guests about the way of lobbying in the central institutions, the topics raised, the services offered to the Municipalities and the functioning of the Association’s bodies and structures, as well as about the international cooperation at the level of local policies in the region and Europe.
On the other hand, the Austrian delegation greeted the work done by AKM for local governance in Kosovo, especially in the field of lobbying and advocacy, offering and comparing such practices from Austria.
The guests from Austria and the delegation of the Association of Kosovo Municipalities discussed the challenges and problems of local government in Kosovo and Austria, as well as the opportunities to establish and deepen cooperation between the Associations of Municipalities of the two countries, but also between the Municipalities of Kosovo and the Municipalities of Austria.
