“Promoting regional exchange for the implementation of sustainable urban mobility plans in Western Balkan countries” under the Open Regional Fund for South-Eastern Europe-Energy, Transport and Climate Protection (ORF-ETC) aims to support cities in South-Eastern Europe (SEE) in strengthening local self-government capacities for the implementation of sustainable mobility measures. ORF-ETC is powered by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Union.
The component addresses three levels. The transfer of knowledge of good practices and experiences of EU countries in the implementation of sustainable urban mobility plans (SUMP) takes place through the existing regional network (eg Civinet Croatia-Slovenia-SEE). At the national level, the capacities of associations of municipalities will be strengthened in order to be able to better advise municipalities on the development and implementation of the SUMP. At the local level, the component supports the selected LGUs in building organizational and technical capacities, which are a prerequisite for the successful implementation of the SUMP. The Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR) is involved in the initiative as a promoter and facilitator for the transfer of good experiences from EU countries in the field of sustainable mobility.
The Sustainable Urban Mobility (SUM) learning platform represents the main learning platform for municipalities and regions in the representative country on the topic of sustainable mobility.
