The Association of Kosovo Municipalities, the Collegium for Regional Economy composed of Municipal Waste Management Officials (WMSO), aims to expand the network of cooperation between WMOs, exchange common experiences between them and provide training according to the needs identified by WMOs. This initiative will have an impact on the municipalities of Kosovo, mainly in networking, raising municipal capacities and sharing good practices in the field of Regional Economy.
Otherwise, the purpose of this working group is mainly focused on strengthening the municipal structures for waste management, through:
• Expanding and strengthening the cooperation network of municipal officials for waste, through the establishment of working groups and the online network of the working group,
• Providing activities for the exchange of experiences of these officials as well as the Directors of the Directorates for Public Services, through various workshops and study visits,
• Providing training for municipal officials.
One of the basic points is aimed at the process of the circular economy, starting from the implementation of legislation in the field of waste management, the drafting and approval of waste management plans, the implementation of the guidelines for penalties with mandatory fines, the elimination of illegal waste dumps, the creation and maintenance of green areas, the provision of quality services in the field of waste management, their collection and recycling, in focus on improving the state of the environment in municipalities.
