THE ASSOCIATION OF KOSOVO MUNICIPALITIES COORDINATES ACTIVITIES WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT PARTNERS

The Association of Kosovo Municipalities organized the following meeting with its partners “Friends of AKM” in Prishtina/Pristina, aiming to co-operate and coordinate activities with partners involved in local government activities and projects in Kosovo.

The meeting was opened by Mr.Sazan Ibrahimi- the Executive Director of AMK, where he briefly informed the participants on the nature and purpose of the meeting. He emphasized the role and importance of cooperation with partners (dealing with local governance) in various projects in the interest of municipalities as well as the mutual coordination and involvement during lobbying in the interest of local authorities.

In addition, Mr. Gani Berisha – Program Manager at AKM presented the achievements of the Association, through work and engagement in various fields, in order to strengthen and further intensify its involvement in the function of representing and protecting the interests of municipalities, as well as empower new AKM structures through activities based on the legislative agenda and the annual priorities set by the governing bodies.

Furthermore, representatives of the partner organizations of the Association of Kosovo Municipalities were presented with the 2018 Work Report (narrative and tabular report), AKM report with recommendations provided for each draft law and their incorporation (expressed in percentage), a list of trainings held during last year with municipal officials as well as 2019 Work Plan.

AKM partner organizations briefed participants about their activities highlighting potential areas for cooperation at the municipal level in the future, corresponding with the objectives that these organizations have during their mandate.

“Friends of the Association of Kosovo Municipalities” was attended by representatives of SDC, USAID TEAM, OFAP, SDC / AHC, GIZ / CDBE, EU / GFA, UN / HABITAT, GIZ / KEEP, NALAS, HELVETAS, DEMOS, OSCE.
