THE COLLEGIUM FOR EDUCATION JOINS SWISS CARITAS IN NETWORK EXPANSION AND ACCESS OF CHILDREN IN PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION

The Association of Kosovo Municipalities, in cooperation and support of the Swiss Caritas organized the meeting of the Collegium for Education, aiming to inform and reveal the new project “Establishment of high quality pre-school standards, by reinforcing education, science and the economy” in network expansion and access of children in pre-school education.

The AKM Executive Director -Mr.Sazan Ibrahimi in his speech emphasized that the Association of Kosovo Municipalities will be partner with Caritas in coordinating activities and implementing them through the Collegium for Education. This project will be helpful in the aspect of education because it will enhance investment opportunities in different schools (school network) as well as improve the quality of training and equipment for preschool education.

In addition, Mr. Daniel Bronkal – Regional Director for Western Balkans expressed gratitude to AKM for their cooperation and emphasized once again that the Caritas’ goal is to improve the access of children in Kosovo to preschool education and higher quality teaching which meets modern, internationally recognized standards. The goal of this project is to expand in all Kosovo territory, and along with the Kosovo Pedagogical Institute (PIK) and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) organize awareness raising initiatives on early childhood education.

Furthermore, regarding the project “HOPE”- Establishing high quality pre-school standards, reinforcing education, science and the economy”, among others, it is foreseen that at least 6,500 children from 5-6 years old, will benefit from education which include: increased inclusion of children in pre-school institutions, improved quality of teaching in the primary and secondary education, improve the importance of education and labor market needs as well as strengthened mechanisms of accountability through teachers’ performance assessment,  inspection and external tests.

Mr.Besim Avdmetaj-Chairperson of the Collegium for Education stressed out the successful cooperation between the collegium and CARITAS so far, as well as expressed the commitment and willingness of Municipal Education Directorates (MEDs) for cooperation. Moreover, provisions of certified training modules for preschool teachers as well equip preschool classrooms with modern adequate furniture and toys on early childhood education.
