AKM AND GIZ/ORF SIGNED A COOPERATION AGREEMENT- SUPPORTING MUNICIPALITIES IN DRAFTING “SUSTAINABLE URBAN MOBILITY PLAN FOR KOSOVO MUNICIPALITIES”

The Association of Kosovo Municipalities has signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Regional Energy Efficiency Fund (GiZ/ORF) project on the support of four municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo for drafting Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and improving urban mobility in our municipalities. This project is adopted by several countries of Southeast Europe, and the main objective of it is drafting action plans for municipalities to improve urban mobility through the exchange of best practices. The first four municipalities that will benefit from this project are: Municipality of Ferizaj, Municipality of Gjilan, Municipality of Podujeva and Municipality of Gracanica.In addition, the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan addresses transport issues in urban areas in a more efficient way. The purpose of the urban mobility plan is to create a sustainable system of transport system and other movements (motorized and non-motorized movements) for the purpose of: Providing easier access for daily movements and other services; Improving safety level; Reducing environment pollution; Enhancing efficiency and effectiveness during the transport of people and goods; Increasing attractiveness and quality of the urban environment.The Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan is based on a long-term vision for the development of transport and mobility, including all types and forms of transport: public and private, passengers and goods, motorized and non-motorized vehicles, movements and parking lots.
